Reclaimed Wood Console Table

I love working with reclaimed wood. The wood from this table came from fence rails from a ranch near Winter Park, Colo. You can see similar fence rails in the last picture in the gallery below.

The wood has great character, including gnarly knots and nail holes.

I planed down the wood enough to make it smooth yet keep as much character as possible. The client wanted it stained to keep with her other furniture.

I used spray urethane for the first coat to make sure the stain was set and then coated it several more times with wipe-on polyurethane. This console will be used on a daily basis so the client wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a beautiful piece but also durable.

The table is held together by Festool dominos as well as pocket screws.
